Redhill Library

Redhill Library

Redhill Library is part of the network of 52 Surrey Libraries. The library is open to everyone.

It is free to join a Surrey Library providing you live, work, or study in the area. If you have a library card to one Surrey Library, you can use this in any other Surrey Library. We are part of The Libraries Consortium, which allows customers to use their library card in 20 London authorities, as well as Essex and Luton libraries. You are also able to reserve items to be sent from these libraries. You need proof of address to join the library.

You can borrow 25 items on your library card at any one time. The library offers physical books and audiobooks, as well as access to eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eNewspapers online via various apps. The standard loan period is 3 weeks, and you can renew items up to 5 times providing no one else has reserved the item. Overdue fees apply to items and cards in various ways, with all the information on our webpage: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/your-library/library-services-and-charges

Your library card entitles you to 2 free hours of internet a day on our public computers. You can purchase additional hours if you require. The library has free Wi-Fi for all visitors. There are printing and photocopying facilities for a cost. You can also print from your own device. You must be a library member or pay for a guest login to print. The library has various online resources such as access to Which? Online, Theory Test Pro, Go Citizen, Ancestry, Find My Past, and more. Some of these services are available from home but some are only available in branch. The list of online reference resources is on our webpage: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/learning-and-research/adult-online-reference-shelf

The library runs regular events. Rhymetime is singing and stories for children aged 0-5. This is a free event (though donations are welcome) every Wednesday and Saturday, 10.30am-11am. There is a drop-in craft for children runs every Saturday, 11am-3pm, which is a suggested donation of £1 per child to cover materials. Knit and natter is for anyone with an interest in woven crafts such as knitting, crochet, stitching etc. People bring their activities to work on and chat with like-minded people at the same time. This is a free event (though donations are welcome) every Thursday, 11am-12pm. We run additional activities in school holidays, and other one-off activities. Additional activities are all advertised on our webpage and social media, as well as on posters in branch.

There are various volunteering opportunities across the library service. Anyone who is interested in a vacant role must fill out an Expression of Interest form online. Any opportunities are advertised on our webpage here: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/volunteering

There is a Library Direct service for people who are unable to leave their home, or who are unable to visit the library due to caring responsibilities. Volunteers choose items for you and bring them to your home, where they can sit and have a chat with you too. More information about this service is on our website: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries/people-with-disabilities/libraries-direct
