Franklin Music
Franklin Music CIC is a community-interest company based in Redhill, working to strengthen local culture, education and wellbeing through music and the performing arts. Founded by Dr Nikki Franklin, with Creative Director Nicki Day, the organisation delivers inclusive, high-quality creative programmes across the local area, supporting people of all ages and abilities to participate in music, drama and performance.
The organisation’s mission is to bring people together through shared creative experiences, uplift communities through participation and performance, and support a vibrant and accessible local cultural identity. Franklin Music CIC works in close partnership with Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, the Belfry Shopping Centre, St John’s Church, Include.org, The Hive Rooms, local schools, independent venues, and regional initiatives including the Reigate Summer Festival and New Music Nights.
Franklin Music CIC runs a year-round programme rooted in an open-door ethos, with no auditions and a strong commitment to accessibility. Core activity includes Franklin Voices, a weekly adult community choir, alongside the Musicians Collective and Vocal Collective, which provide monthly collaboration and skills-development opportunities for instrumentalists and singers. The Franklin Drama Club, led by Nicki Day, offers a weekly adult drama group and monthly Theatre Collective, creating inclusive pathways into acting and performance-making. Regular concerts, open mic nights and performance platforms support local talent, audience development and town-centre activity.
Work with children and young people is a key focus. In 2026, Franklin Music CIC will launch the Franklin Voices Youth Choir, providing high-quality vocal training, performance opportunities and assisted or free places to ensure access for all. The organisation is also delivering Redhill Rising, a large-scale youth-led musical-theatre and heritage project running throughout 2025–2026. The project places inclusivity and communication at its heart, with all participating children learning Makaton signing for the main chorus. Schools receive resource packs to support classroom learning, and the project culminates in a major community performance at The Belfry on 16 April 2026.
Franklin Music CIC also convenes a Professional Musicians Network, bringing together local musicians, teachers, choir leaders and venues through six-monthly events that create connection, collaboration and opportunity. As a community-interest company, Franklin Music CIC delivers social, cultural and economic impact through inclusive practice, strong partnerships and long-term commitment to the local community.
